I have come to the realization that I don’t want a lot of stuff anymore. I am so content with what I have. I do not need another cup. Honestly I probably use the same one everyday and have extras on hand for company. I don’t need any more dishes or pots and pans. My stainless steel pans and cast iron are going strong. They are work horses in my kitchen and they are used daily. I tried nonstick things in the past and always find I go back to my stainless steel and cast iron.

I am content with the clothes I have. I will replace things as they wear out if I need to, but for now I am good. I usually wash clothes atleast once a week. There are only seven days in a week. I do have work clothes, seasonal clothing, a couple of nice things, and things I wear when i am not working. I have found that I have more than enough.

I do love a good accessory, but there again I am good. If I do decide I want something new I do follow my rule of one thing in and one thing out. Because I choose to live in a smaller space there just isn’t enough room to add something without removing something else.

I need new glasses and that is something I will replace without giving it a second thought. I like to see. There are things that have to be purchased because they are a priority. Glasses are one of those purchases for me.

I love my car. it is nothing fancy, but it meets my needs. I try hard to have it serviced and keep up with repairs. I get the oil checked regularly and just put new tires on a few months ago. Where I live, sadly public transportation is lacking. A car is really a necessity.

I don’t need any more furniture. Eventually something will wear out and I will replace it. I just had a cabinet redone that belonged to my father and before him my grandmother. Sometimes you don’t have to buy something new. You can fix up what you have or find something at a resale shop. I have a friend that loves antiques. Almost all her furniture was bought at antique stores or resale shops and she has a beautiful hoe. New and shiny is not always the best.

I gave up wearing make up years ago. I don’t like it and it just seems so unnecessary. If you want to wear it go for it. I don’t want to. I don’t want to eat out very much anymore. An occasional meal out is nice, but I prefer to eat at hoe. I like to have people over for dinner. I find it more relaxing and I don’t have to wait or find a parking space.

I do love to exercise. I am fortunate because there is a gym where I live. Sure this is part of the cost for where I live, but I use it all the time. I want to use the things I am paying for and I don’t want to pay to replace perfectly good things I have in my home. You might find it dated, but I have never had anyone come over and refuse to eat dinner because the pan i used to cook it might have a dent in it. My home is for me. The people I invite in are there because I want to spend time with them not impress them with myg latest purchase.

Perhaps this is something that happens as we get older. All I know is I am happier than I have been in a very long time.
